"When we drink, we do it right..."
WWU 21+ is not here to lecture you. We just know how much it sucks when something goes wrong with your night -- or when you wake up the next morning with a hangover. Here are some tips for avoiding the common pitfalls of going out.
How to avoid being that person at the bar
Moderation is key. Don’t have more than you can handle.
Pace yourself. Your body can only process about one drink per hour. More than that starts you on the road toward alcohol poisoning. Drink water. Have one glass of water for each alcoholic drink you have. Eat. An empty stomach can’t deal with alcohol as well as a full one. Keep an eye on your drink. Always watch your drink being made, and never leave it alone. Know when to stop. Sometimes, enough is enough. Going overboard and drinking too much can quickly turn a great night into a horrible one. Vomiting and hangovers are no fun. Keep it classy. Beyond health and safety, the key to a good night is in being a good bar patron. This means having ID ready, not spilling your drink, being polite and tipping the bartender. Some of these tips are adapted from those distributed by Bellingham Nightlife Advice on Tap.
